Quality & Safety
Lab Curriculum.
STARTING SOON
BUG FOUND: learners who know quality terms, but cannot run an audit that finds real defects.
$ step-01 brushup // weeks 1–2 — Topics taught:
- Quality basics: defect, non-conformance, and corrective action.
- Audit basics: scope, checklist, evidence, and sampling.
- Safety basics: hazards, risk, and controls.
- Root-cause basics: 5 Whys and fishbone, applied to a real case.
- Documentation basics: findings that can be verified, not opinions.
- Checklists and inspection methods for a sample process.
$ step-02 debug // weeks 3–4 — Production Debugging. Tools: sample process records, checklists, audit templates.
- BUG #1: Defect audit: a process produces defects — audit it, find the root cause, not just the defective output.
- BUG #2: Safety gap: a control exists on paper but not in practice — find the gap, propose a workable control.
- BUG #3: Failed check: a checklist passes but defects escape — find the checklist / sampling flaw, fix it.
- BUG #4: Repeat defect: the same failure returns after a fix — find why the first fix did not hold, propose a stronger action.
$ step-03 navigate // weeks 5–7 — Codebase / System Navigation:
- Navigate plant / process records: trace a defect to process, material, method, or people — with evidence.
- Audit a full process end-to-end, rank findings by risk, and separate facts from assumptions.
- Build a corrective action plan with owners, dates, and verification checks.
- Review a peer's audit for evidence quality and root-cause strength.
$ step-04 ship // weeks 8–9 — Shipping Features: capstone — an audit report + corrective action plan for a real-style process, presented as if to a quality reviewer.
$ ship → PROOF — exact output: audit report, corrective action plan with owners and verification checks.
