UI/UX Design
Lab Curriculum.
STARTING SOON
BUG FOUND: designers who can make screens, but cannot fix a flow users fail on.
$ step-01 brushup // weeks 1–2 — Topics taught:
- UX basics: user goals, tasks, and flows; where users drop off.
- Figma basics: frames, components, auto-layout, and prototyping.
- Visual hierarchy, typography, spacing, and colour for readability.
- Usability heuristics and accessibility basics (contrast, focus, labels).
- Auditing a flow: task success, error states, and empty states.
- Presenting design decisions with evidence, not taste alone.
$ step-02 debug // weeks 3–4 — Production Debugging. Tools: Figma, usability task scripts, screen recordings / notes.
- BUG #1: Checkout flow loses users at payment — audit the flow, find the friction, redesign that step.
- BUG #2: A form produces constant errors — find the confusing labels / validation, redesign with clear errors and recovery.
- BUG #3: Mobile flow breaks on small screens — find layout / touch-target issues, fix responsively.
- BUG #4: Accessibility failures (contrast, focus order, missing labels) — audit, fix, verify with a checklist.
$ step-03 navigate // weeks 5–7 — Codebase / System Navigation:
- Trace a user journey across a live product and its design system; find inconsistencies between screens.
- Fix a flow consistently across all screens using shared components, not one-off patches.
- Run a small usability task with a peer: observe, note failures, prioritise fixes.
- Review a peer's redesign for consistency, accessibility, and task success.
$ step-04 ship // weeks 8–9 — Shipping Features: capstone — a redesigned flow + working prototype, tested with a usability task, with before/after evidence.
$ ship → PROOF — exact output: working prototype, before/after flow comparison, and a usability test note with task results.
